Spring is here!

Like Paris Hilton at her own birthday party, spring decided to arrive fashionably late on the Island this year.

At first I thought I was just being negative, but even the locals were complaining about the weather we'd experienced the last month or two.

Grey cloudy skies were the norm. The temperature rarely reached the double-digits. It was so cold I had to don my winter coat a couple of times last week!

I began to wonder if spring would ever arrive. Everyone had told me the Island was beautiful in the summer. With no spring, it would have to be pretty spectacular to live up to its billing.

We've had some warm days, but as quickly as they came, they had disappeared. But today, at last, today the sun was out, there was a warm breeze, it truly felt like a spring day.

Once the work day was done, I did something I haven't done for ages...I sat down and had a drink on a patio.

I was in Charlottetown, yet it didn't seem as busy as I thought it should have been. Nevertheless, there were certainly plenty of people to watch go by and I had an excellent meal and even more delicious dessert (Big cookie with ice cream!).

I had a comfortable spot, a good meal and the air was fresh and clean. I enjoyed every moment. I realized then that things were only going to get better.

Everyone told me the Island is beautiful in the summer. Well if it's anything like today, I'm in for a treat :)
